Metal Stamping

Custom Metal Stamping for Your Part Requirements

Every stamping project starts with the part itself.

Before production, our team reviews the drawing, material, thickness, dimensions, tolerances and required quantity. We then determine the appropriate tooling and stamping process for the component.

This approach allows us to manufacture customized metal components without forcing every project into the same production method.

Whether you need a prototype, a small production run or repeat OEM orders, we can discuss the tooling and production requirements based on your specific part.

Single-Stage Die Stamping

Kailai primarily uses single-stage dies for custom metal stamping projects.

This method gives us flexibility when producing customized components with different geometries, materials and production volumes. It is particularly suitable for projects where tooling flexibility and production quantity need to be considered together.

Our tooling is developed and maintained in-house, allowing the engineering and production teams to work directly on tooling adjustments and part requirements.

Why Single-Stage Dies?

  • Flexible for customized part designs
  • Suitable for prototypes and small-to-medium production runs
  • Easier tooling adjustment during development
  • Suitable for different materials and thicknesses
  • Supports repeat production after tooling approval

Our Metal Stamping Process

01

Drawing & Part Review

We review the part geometry, material, thickness, dimensions, tolerances and production quantity before determining the manufacturing approach.

02

Tooling Development

For stamped components, we develop the required tooling according to the approved part design and production requirements.

03

Tool Trial & Adjustment

The tooling is tested and adjusted before regular production to ensure the required part dimensions and forming results can be achieved.

04

Stamping Production

Approved parts are produced using our stamping equipment according to the agreed specifications.

05

Inspection

Finished components are inspected according to the applicable dimensional and quality requirements before shipment.

Materials for Metal Stamping

We work with core metal materials for stamped components, including:

Material selection depends on the required strength, formability, corrosion resistance, thickness and application.

If your project requires a specific material grade, include the specification with your drawing so our team can review it before quotation.

Production Volumes & Prototyping

Kailai supports different production volumes depending on the part design, tooling requirements and order quantity.

We accept smaller orders from approximately 100 pieces and can also support repeat production for OEM customers.

For new projects, samples or trial quantities can be discussed before regular production. This allows customers to evaluate the part and tooling before committing to larger production quantities.

Secondary Metal Fabrication

Stamping is our core manufacturing process, but not every component is best produced through stamping alone. Depending on the part design, we can combine stamping with other key processes:

For some projects, laser cutting or bending may be more suitable than developing stamping tooling, particularly during prototyping or for smaller quantities.

This allows us to select the manufacturing process based on the part rather than applying the same process to every project.

Quality Control

Quality control starts with drawing and tooling review and continues through production and final inspection.

Kailai has maintained an ISO 9001 quality management system since 2016. Inspection requirements can be agreed according to the project, including dimensional checks and other applicable quality controls.

Our production team works from the approved drawings and specifications to maintain consistency throughout the production run.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is custom metal stamping?

Custom metal stamping is a manufacturing process used to form, cut or shape sheet metal into components according to a specific part design and tooling.

What materials can you stamp?

We commonly process carbon steel, stainless steel, galvanized steel, aluminum, copper, brass and other alloys.

What thickness can you stamp?

Our stamping capability covers different material thicknesses depending on the equipment, tooling and part design. Contact us with your drawing for a specific assessment.

Do you manufacture stamping dies?

Yes. We develop and maintain tooling in-house for custom stamping projects.

Can you handle small production quantities?

Yes. We accept smaller orders from approximately 100 pieces, depending on the part and tooling requirements.

Can you manufacture according to our CAD drawings?

Yes. Send your CAD drawing, material specification and required quantity for review and quotation.

What is the typical lead time?

Typical production lead time is approximately 25–35 days, depending on tooling, part complexity, quantity and finishing requirements.
