Product Description

Manufactured from high-quality 2.0mm Q235B carbon steel, this custom enclosure pan is engineered to serve as a robust foundational chassis for industrial control panels, battery housings, or heavy-duty containment systems. With a substantial 500mm by 300mm footprint, the component features precise vertical side walls terminating in continuous outward-facing mounting flanges. This complex folded geometry significantly enhances the pan’s torsional rigidity, preventing structural twisting under heavy internal payloads. Strategically positioned mounting holes are pre-punched on the lateral walls to facilitate rapid integration of internal mechanical or electrical components.

To guarantee absolute dimensional accuracy and mating surface flatness across this large-format tray, Kailai utilizes advanced CNC sheet metal forming protocols. The outward-facing top flanges require specialized box-bending sequences and segmented gooseneck tooling to prevent die collisions during the final folding stages. The four corners are subsequently fused using precision welding to create a fully sealed, structurally sound perimeter. Finished with a thermally cured electrostatic powder coating, this custom metal chassis delivers a dense protective barrier that provides exceptional resistance to industrial chemicals, moisture, and mechanical abrasion.

Technical Difficulties & Manufacturing Solutions

1. Tooling Clearance for Outward-Facing Flanges Difficulty: Bending a 500x300mm box with continuous outward-facing flanges on all four sides presents a severe tooling clearance issue. When folding the final two side walls, the already-bent perpendicular flanges will collide with standard press brake punches, making it impossible to complete the 90-degree bends without crushing the lip. Solution: Kailai programs a highly specific CNC bending sequence and utilizes precision-ground, segmented gooseneck tooling (window punches). These specialized punches provide the exact relief clearance necessary to accommodate the pre-formed flanges, allowing our press brakes to execute perfect 90-degree box folds with zero mechanical interference or flange distortion.

2. Managing Heat Distortion on a Large 500x300mm Web Difficulty: Creating a fully sealed enclosure pan requires welding the four vertical corners. Fusing 2.0mm carbon steel introduces intense localized heat. On a large 500x300mm flat base, this thermal stress easily propagates through the thin sheet metal, causing the central web to buckle or warp, which ruins the mounting surface flatness. Solution: We deploy a strictly controlled TIG welding process utilizing heavy-duty copper backing bars inside the corners. These backing bars act as massive heat sinks, rapidly drawing thermal energy away from the 2.0mm Q235B steel base. This thermal management ensures the 500x300mm chassis bottom remains absolutely flat and dimensionally stable for flawless final assembly.
